Current Major Goals

Transparency In how the Government operates with a new and creative approach

Unify the Community: It's for everyone: locals, second homeowners, youth, tourists, and the workforce that travel from so many places.

Empower the Younger Generation to lead, contribute, and ensure their future here. Without creating this hope? We will fail as a town and resort.

Collaboration: The three Governments, the Town of Telluride, the Town of Mountain Village, and San Miguel County, must work together along with the 5-10 largest employers to strive and solve our local issues.

Lead and Assist in our four crisis-level goals: Affordable Housing, Medical Center, Gondola, and Waste Water Treatment Facility.

Allow the town staff and town commissions to work without too much council oversight.

Simply put, we, as a community, have procrastinated for many years on these "BIG 4.” We need to get things done. Doing nothing is worse than being imperfect in the end result.

Affordable Housing

Diamond Ridge and the mistrust has set us back, and we have to do better. When are we going to stop talking about building a large amount of housing and start solving the issue in a large scale and meaningful way. With community input and regional collaboration. By multiple groups working independently, the approach and outcome are scattered. In 4 years? Built hundreds of units in true multi-use mini communities and work regionally to accomplish this goal. By multi-use, these mini community's need restaurants, professional space, ballfields and recreation, retail and maybe even free market properties mixed in. The town has been offered plans to do that. I do know that building 15 units here and 20 units there is not only not solving the problems, but it also adds the divide of the community by who wins the lottery and who doesn't. We also need to figure out better ways and be creative for downpayment assistance in a significant way and even a way to help drop the mortgage rates. Let's say you buy a $500,000 affordable house. Who has 20% down? Who can pay a 7.5% mortgage rate? We need out-of-the-box thinking.

  • Medical Center

What can the town do to build the Medical Center in Lawson Hill? How can we do it now? We are at the tipping point to lose our current services, let alone improve. We need this. We need the other amenities that will come with it: affordable housing, a more affordable hotel, professional space, and more. Can't we all agree we need better access to medical care and that it is an integral part of the success and future of Telluride as a major destination resort?

  • Gondola

We need to work together within our local governement(s) as it's a big part of what connects the region with the San Miguel Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) and is a considerable visitor amenity.

Will it be free? Should it be free? What will it cost the town? The replacement will be costly and inconvenient, and the community has to be a significant part of these decisions. With his local experience, Teddy would be a significant asset to this collaboration.

  • Wastewater Treatment

This is long overdue. How can we get this rolling? How can we inform the community and take action?

Let's make sure we can work with Genesee Properties and the Telluride Medical District to ensure we have the correct sized parcel to have the necessary sized new wastewater treatment plant and do all we can to provide the water/sewer needs for this project that not only will house a desperately needed Medical Center, but the supporting uses, like affordable housing and one affordable hotel. The Wastewater Plant is the first step and can be a win-win.
